X reduces the prerequisites for the monetization of creators

X reduces the prerequisites for creator monetization. Elon Musk does everything to get users to subscribe to X Premium.

Elon Musk really wants users to pay for X Premium, the $8 per month subscription previously known as Twitter Blue. And he wants people to sign up for the advertising revenue-sharing program so much that he has reduced the prerequisites to qualify. Now you just have to be a X Premium subscriber, have 5 million impressions in the last three months and 500 subscribers. And the minimum payment amount was lowered to $10.

In other words, these are significant decreases. Previously, you had to be a subscriber with 15 million impressions in the last three months. And before that, you needed at least five million impressions a month in the last three months. And the threshold to get paid was $50.

Shortly after the official announcement from Account X, Elon Musk published his own ad. And as usual, when he publishes on the creator program, he reminded that users must be subscribed to X Premium and that only the impressions of other X Premium subscribers were counted for monetization. This time, however, he went further. Elon Musk highlighted the program by stating that users who are eligible for monetization will have “essentially” X Premium “for free”, as long as they earn more than the $8 per month they spend on the subscription. It will remain to be seen how many X Premium subscribers generate enough.

Elon Musk originally launched this monetization program for creators in February, but it has not evolved since then. Then, mid-July, payments were suddenly made to some users. It then became clear, according to the accounts that were entitled to it, that the platform first favored Elon Musk’s favorite accounts. Also, the payments were really significant, with some receiving tens of thousands of dollars.

At the end of July, the program finally opened to all users with the launch of a dedicated page indicating whether an account is eligible or not. A few days ago, more X Premium subscribers shared having received payments for their monetization, but the amounts published were much less than those of privileged users.

It is not yet clear how this monetization is calculated, with Elon Musk himself stating that it is “not exactly by printing”.

Earlier this year, Mashable reported that this X Premium subscription, formerly Twitter Blue, was struggling to exist, with nearly half of paid users having fewer than 1,000 subscribers.
