Google Search will save you a lot of time thanks to artificial intelligence

Google deploys AI in Search, its historical business. The changes are not yet visible in the public search engine, but they are already accessible in Labs, its experimental part. She received a major update yesterday.

At the Google I/O 2023, the Mountain View firm announced the thunderous arrival of AI in all its products. A big leap forward to compete with OpenAI and its ChatGPT that made the headlines. It first went through Gmail which writes itself and a new photo editor which can imagine the frame of a photo. It is now Google’s historical business, Search, which is entitled to experiments.

That’s it, Google adds AI functions in its search engine. Called Search Generative Experience, this experimental version of the search engine incorporates a chatbot with artificial intelligence similar to Google Bard. It answers questions that “you never thought Google Search could answer,” so you can get information faster than ever.

How to use Google’s generative AI search?

This is not yet the future of a brand new Google AI-powered search engine, but the improvement is already noticeable. No need to click directly on a link to know the content of a page, the AI summarizes the important information. These features have been available in Google Labs for a few months now.

Yesterday, Google added the ability to summarize long content, in order to get the essential information faster. With this handy feature, the user can quickly access the relevant parts of an article: by clicking on a part of the summary generated by the AI, he directly accesses the corresponding part of the article.

The summary also breaks down into questions that Google expects. By pressing a question, the user then accesses the part of the article that answers it, also highlighting it. A “Learn More” section directly contains the answers to these AI-generated questions, which avoids having to go through other parts of the article first.

To use these features, we will unfortunately have to wait in France, since they are only available in Google Labs. To subscribe, you must have an American Google account.
