ChatGPT Android app coming in the next few days

The Android app ChatGPT is coming in the next few days. This will make the chatbot even more popular.

ChatGPT app

When OpenAI launched its ChatGPT app for the iPhone last May, the company promised that Android users would soon be eligible for it, too. Today, the company announces that the ChatGPT app for Android will be released sometime next week. In addition, the Google Play page of the app is already available and interested users can pre-register to get it as soon as possible.

It is difficult, however, to know if the app will only be available in the United States at first, as was the case for the iOS app, but I managed to pre-register from France. OpenAI had however expanded the number of countries of its iOS app just a few days after its launch in the United States. It is therefore possible that the Android variant will be available in other countries shortly after if the official launch takes place only across the Atlantic.

Users can already access ChatGPT on Android via a browser, but the interface, without being truly complex, is not perfect for mobile devices. A dedicated app is synonymous with a mobile-optimized interface and features adapted for the users of the platform concerned. On iOS, for example, users have been able to support Siri and Shortcuts since June. They can create a ChatGPT prompt in Shortcuts and save it as a link to send to a friend. They can also ask Siri to launch the app or create these Shortcuts, among other things.

Enough to make the chatbot even more popular

OpenAI has also recently begun testing a new feature for ChatGPT Plus subscribers that gives the AI chatbot “memory”. With this feature enabled, the chatbot can remember the user through conversations, or at least some of their “preferences”. The company explains that this can help simplify daily requests. The functionality has been designed to be operational on all platforms. In other words, Android users will be able to enjoy what OpenAI calls “custom requests” on their app when it becomes available.
