Apple GPT: chatbot is already used internally by employees

The Apple GPT chatbot secretly developed by the Cupertino firm is already in use. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that Apple GPT is currently used internally by employees of the firm.

Apple GPT

Named Apple GPT, the chatbot signed by the apple brand has been in secret development for a few months. The Cupertino firm is thus entering the race for artificial intelligence led by OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and Meta which has just launched LLaMA 2 in open-source. For its part, Apple GPT is not yet ready to be released to the general public, but that does not prevent Apple from using it internally.

In his latest Power On newsletter published yesterday, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg says that Apple GPT is already in use. We don’t yet know how Apple plans to use generative artificial intelligence to benefit its customers. However, Apple GPT may be integrated with AppleCare, the brand’s extended warranty offering. Apple GPT would be used to help users solve problems faster and more efficiently.

Could Apple GPT be the revolution Siri seriously needs?

According to Gurman, Apple has already launched an internal ChatGPT-style service for employees. It is used to “prototype future features, summarize the text and answer questions based on the data with which it was formed.”

You should know that Apple’s great language model is based on the Ajax framework developed with Google Jax. Apple GPT is the nickname that was given to the chatbot internally. Generative AI will likely have other ramifications within the Cupertino firm, but it is still too early to know more. Mark Gurman nevertheless believes that Apple’s AI could boost the Siri virtual assistant, which disappoints both users and engineers. For example, users could ask Siri to write an email to set up a meeting instead of having to dictate the message orally

Anyway, this famous Apple GPT is not yet close to being added to the Apple ecosystem. Even Tim Cook said that “a number of issues need to be addressed” with respect to artificial intelligence. Apple will surely take the time to develop a quality service before deploying it to the general public. Apple sources have nonetheless told Bloomberg that a “significant AI announcement” is expected next year.
